New moon howl - chapter 2 by ~wild-breeze:iconwild-breeze:

Olivia

as Olivia woke up she felt a pounding pain in her head. She moved her hand mindlessly trying to get comfortable and felt, cold smooth stone ground instead of her bed covers. Olivia jolted awake in surprise. She wasn’t at home; she didn’t know where she was until her memories flooded back into her mind; she remembered running away and seeing that boy who scared her half to death. The young girl’s eyes focused to see stone walls and a stone ceiling covered in sharp downward pointing rocks. There was a blueish light coming from the far end of the cave that danced across the walks and lit up the dim interior. “A cave…?” She wondered, “But how did I get here…?” She decided to sit up and look around to find out what to do from here. The moment Olivia put her weight on her arm another sharp pain shocked her and she nearly fell back down, she managed to catch her self with her other arm. She thanked the heavens that it didn’t hurt as bad. She tried sitting up again, and this time was more successful with her attempt. She reached her soar arm up to touch her neck. She briefly tried to rub the kink out of it before her legs caught her eye. They were just scratched and a little bruised, but she remembered getting those on her hike. “Whew… at least I can still stand, let alone walk.” She concluded as Olivia stretched and moved her legs from her current sitting position. She lifted up her sleeves and began to investigate her arms current condition. Her right arm was pretty ok, just a few scratches, but nothing major. Her left arm on the other hand was bruised and beaten, and nearly felt broken. Olivia forced her self to try and move it, but couldn’t very far. Her torso was stiff but basically fine with the odd pain in a few places, but nothing else. She then took a look at her clothes. Her sweater was ripped and torn in a few places, and covered in mud. Her pants looked about the same.

Olivia quickly looked around for her backpack and found it was still fastened securely to her back. She let out a relived sigh, “I’m glad I still have this.”

She didn’t bother checking to see if any one would walk around the stony corner which looked like the way out before she began to undress and put on clean clothes. She thanked the heavens none of her things were water logged or to dirty, and put on a long beige shirt with a light weight black hoodie over top. On her legs she wore a classic pair of blue jeans and clean socks on her feet. She pulled out her brush and struggled to get the mud out of her hair, but she soon found out it was a failed attempt. Finally satisfied with what she was wearing she decided to investigate how she ended up in that cave and who had saved her from that thing in the woods.

Olivia cautiously limped around the corner at her own pace as to not hurt her self any more. She heard a thundering noise in the background and soon remembered it to be the sound of a waterfall. She then realized that must be what was making the dancing blue lights on the wall that made it seem like she was under water. The floor turned from bumpy rocky ground to sand, and felt much nicer to walk on.

She peered around the corner and almost wished she hadn’t. There about 10’ away from her sat a beast. If it wasn’t for his eyes she wouldn’t have recognized him. He was licking what looked like dried blood off of his long black claws, when he looked up at her and smiled. But not a friendly smile you get from your neighbor in the morning when you go out side to get the paper. No, this was a horrible smile; the kind Olivia imagined a murderer to give his victim right before they died. She fell back wards in shock and quickly scrambled over to the wall to get away from it more. She was frozen in fear.

Still smiling he stood up. Fangs still flashed in a menacing grin. He walked forward only a few steps before he stopped and said through his grin, “Good morning to you to.”
His voice was smooth, like a mad man’s lullaby. But Olivia didn’t like it, his greeting only scared her more, but by the way his expression changed she could tell that’s only what he wanted.

“W-what do you want with me?” she asked trying to keep her voice steady as he began to move forward again, “Don’t come any closer!” she managed to yell, her voice still shaking.

He chuckled a bit and then replied, “So. I save you from the rain and take you back to my den when you were hurt, and this is my thanks? Highly improper if you ask me.” He stalked forward a few more paces. Olivia panicked; she didn’t know what to do.

“I said don’t come closer!” she yelled as she tried to curl up into a ball. All her instincts told her to run away as fast as she could, but she was too afraid to even move.

He began to laugh again, “Well, you are in my den on my territory, I do believe I can do what I want.”

“Please don’t hurt me!” Olivia pleaded near tears. She wanted to look away from his face, but couldn’t, what if she looked away and in seconds she was dead? No, she would rather be prepared no matter how frightened she was.

He held out a hand, his claws just inches away from her body, she flinched. He held his hand there for a few more moments before taking it back. “Fine, I won't help you up." he sneered. "Just because your rude doesn't mean I have to be. I’m Isaiah the new moon werewolf.” He introduced him self.

“Why are you telling me your name?” Olivia asked a little glimmer of hope in her eyes. Maybe he didn’t want to kill her. But she had relaxed too soon.

“I always tell my prey my name. Besides, they can’t tell anyone else as soon as I’m done with them.” He said as he gestured towards a pile of bones near the entrance of the cave, wet from the spray of the waterfall. Olivia’s heart leaped.

“So you’re a cannibal?” She asked alarmed.

He smirked again. “Apparently you didn’t hear me the first time. I’m a new moon werewolf. I'm not a cannibal if your not my race.” Isaiah stated plainly. "besides I don't get humans out this far normally anyway."

Ignoring his point Olivia stammered, “a w-what?” She had heard of werewolves, but a new moon werewolf?

“Ugh!” he growled as he put his hands over his eyes and took a step back wards. “Don’t you know anything?” Isaiah questioned as he took his hands of his face in an exasperated way.

Isaiah

He saw the confused look on her face and decided to continue on his own. “A new moon werewolf looks just like me. Half transformed, the only difference between a full moon werewolf and a new moon werewolf is that they can be normal human at one point in the month. I never can.” Isaiah explained almost bored as if he had done so too many times over in his head. “And instead of the full moon having effect on me, the new moon does. And trust me,” he said as the girl looked about to question again, “you’ll wish you were dead when you see what happens.”

She gasped a little. He cocked an eye brow trying to read her expression, but couldn’t. “But, it can’t be all that bad… I mean, your still alive.” She stated.

“Obviously. But it’s not what happens to me that’s the problem. It’s what happens to everyone and everything else around me.” Isaiah told her with an inpatient flick of his tail. “And if you’re all that curious, the new moon that you ‘love’,” he put a lot of emphasis on the word ‘love’ to try and get the point across that he had heard her, “is tonight.”

“Oh… you heard me…. So that was you!” She said accusingly, narrowing her eyes at him in a glare.

“You’re brave to challenge me.” Isaiah replied flatly, returning the glare. She immediately stopped as her eyes went wide with a haunted fear. He turned around and walked across the sandy floor of the main cave to the edge of the waterfall. Looking over his shoulder he saw that the girl still hadn’t moved from her spot, or her position. “Feel free to get up.” The werewolf told her, now bored with talking. He turned again to head out side the shelter of the cave.

“Where are you going?” she asked, shifting her position to something that looked a little more comfortable.

“I’m going to remark my territory.” Isaiah informed her, his tail began twitching in annoyance.

“Ew!” she exclaimed. “Why?”

“You sound surprised. It’s going to rain soon, I have the best territory in the forest and I want to make that clear to passers by looking for a little fresh kill.” Isaiah growled now considering the idea of putting her out of her misery that moment. ‘No, I can’t. Manners… manners…’ He reminded him self. “Well sorry to be bad company but I have to go. There is a deer out side incase you get hungry and I should have more fresh kill when I get back” he informed walking forward.

“You’re giving me food… but why?” she asked. Isaiah stopped half way through a step. He could feel anger burning inside of him way more than before.

“Because, I have to be polite…” he said through gritted teeth.

“Why?” she asked again. Obviously she had never learned to be polite her self, if anything she learned how to be the most annoying human on earth.

‘Again with the questions!’ His mind screamed at him, ‘kill her now!’ “No.” he mumbled to him self trying to calm down, but he couldn’t stop his ears from lying flat on his head. Taking a breath he turned around. “I’ll explain my self later, just stop talking!” he growled trying so hard to keep his temper down, but by the look on the girls face he could tell that the rage was smoldering in his eyes. He whipped around and walked straight through the water fall, soaking his hair and body.

Hmm... Olivia seems a little like a Mary Sue. Make her swear a little, or something. She kinda seems like a goody goody right now.
I like Isaiah though. And you just know I'm going to mock the 'remarking his territoy' thing like you and Kiefer mocked jungle bird Marilyn.
